Compiz-Switch is a simple program to switch Compiz off and on easily.

If you are looking for a simple yet effective way to switch between Compiz and the window manager of your desktop environment, then this is for you.
Compiz-Switch provides this on a single click.
- If Compiz is running, it will switch to the default window decorator of your desktop environment.
- If Compiz is not running, it will be launched immediately.
Compiz-Switch is available for Ubuntu Gutsy and Feisty (this includes Kubuntu and Xubuntu), for any distribution with Compiz compiled from (git) source and Suse (though this version has not been tested by me).
Versions for other distributions may follow (go here if you want to help with your distribution).

Sehr schön. Hab gerade entdeckt, dass dein Blog mittlerweile auf Planet ubuntuusers rotiert :) Tschuess, Chrissss.
Es gibt doch schon Fusion Icon !?!
There is Fusion icon already !?
First of all, you have to compile Fusion-Icon - which is too complicated for many users.
Then it lives in your system tray (where it doesn't belong IMHO) and it provides functionalities most users don't need.
Last but not least, switching window managers is not as fast as with Compiz-Switch (just one click).
But don't get me wrong, Fusion-Icon is a fine application and they did a wonderful job. Use whatever suits you best.
Just FYI, Fusion Icon will be available in Hardy's repositories (actually, it is already there).
Also, you say «Then it lives in your system tray (where it doesn't belong IMHO)», but on the screenshot you posted it looks like Compiz-Switch sits there, too. Can you clarify this please?
can we map it to compizconfig-settings-manager
so that by right-clicking you can directly have the setting manager right there
awesome, i've been looking for an easy wasy to switch off and on when playing games. works in Intrepid!
